About BFAS

Better Future Adoption Services, Inc. (BFAS) is a non-profit organization licensed by the Minnesota Department of Human Services for domestic and international adoption. On June 4, 2007, BFAS officially registered with the Ethiopian Ministry of Justice to operate in Ethiopia as a non-governmental organization. Through our Operational Agreement with Ethiopia’s Ministry of Women’s Affairs (MOWA), BFAS is devoted to not only provide adoptive placement of orphaned and abandoned children from Ethiopia, but to also develop and support humanitarian aid programs and services that advance the status of at-risk children and women in the country.

OUR MISSION: To place healthy, orphaned and abandoned Ethiopian children with caring and loving families in the United States and to undertake humanitarian aid programs and services that promote the well-being of children and women in Ethiopia.

OUR VISION: Children adopted from Ethiopia should grow up in dignity, strongly connected to their country of origin and proud of their identity as Ethiopian-Americans.

We therefore are committed to work in close relationship with adoptive parents and their adopted children, providing them with culturally sensitive services and guidance through our post-placement programs, as well as promote the well-being and healthy development of at-risk, vulnerable orphaned and abandoned children in Ethiopia, through our development initiatives.
